I am a strong advocate for gun violence prevention and have consistently fought for common sense legislation to keep our communities safe while also respecting the rights of responsible gun owners.

In Congress, I’m proud to have voted to pass the most significant bipartisan legislation to combat gun violence in decades which would prevent those who would harm themselves or others from obtaining firearms, boost mental health services, and close loopholes that allow domestic abusers and those convicted of stalking to buy guns.

I’ve also supported legislation to implement universal background checks on gun purchases, keep weapons of war off of our streets, and regulate dangerous ghost guns. In response to the tragic 2019 mass shooting in Virginia Beach, I introduced the Empowering Law Enforcement for Safer Firearm Transfers Act which aimed to empower law enforcement to block the sale or transfer of any weapon regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA), including silencers, an accessory used in the Virginia Beach shooting.

I am proud to be endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety and Giffords.
